At https://fcs.burnout-aid.eu/ you can access the archived version of the Burnout Aid portal, including the Croatian and Slovenian editions and the original Burnout Aid self-assessment tool.
The Burnout Aid portal is the result of research on professional and activist burnout in the third sector in Central and Eastern Europe. The portal was launched in 2019 by Culture Shock Foundation (Poland), together with K-Zona (Croatia) and City of Women / Mesto Žensk (Slovenia), as part of large-scale international Burnout Aid project, with funding from the Erasmus+ programme.
The initiative grew out of the partners’ long-term work in NGOs, cultural organisations, and grassroots movements. Because existing knowledge on burnout was fragmented and rarely reflected regional realities, the project started with desk research and in-depth qualitative interviews with NGO employees, volunteers, leaders, and female experts in Poland, Croatia, and Slovenia.
This work helped identify key organisational, relational, and systemic drivers of burnout, including limited crisis support, management challenges, lack of supervision, and the tendency to place responsibility solely on individuals. These insights were then structured into educational content and practical tools.
As a result, in December 2019, Culture Shock Foundation registered the burnout-aid.eu domain and launched the Burnout Aid portal as a space for shared knowledge, learning, and reflection. One of the core outcomes of the project was the first Burnout Aid self-assessment wellbeing tool, available in four languages (Polish, English, Slovenian, Croatian). Since 2021, it has been used by 1,600+ individuals and 230+ organisations worldwide.
We are currently working on bringing the Croatian and Slovenian versions, along with the self-assessment tool, into the new Burnout Aid layout and structure.
