Workshop For Community // 21 - 25.08.2023

Looking for a change?

Let's talk about burnout and exhaustion differently. Let's come together and listen to our bodies to find out what they would like to tell us about burnout. How about incorporating art, performance, and movement techniques to explore personal and collective burnout experiences.

We aim to find creative ways to discuss burnout among activists and the NGO community and promote rest to reduce stress and exhaustion. By doing so, we hope to contribute to the ongoing conversation about work, burnout, rest, and recovery in our sector.

Burnout laboratory

We invite you for a 5-days workshop called “For Community”. It’ll be a time to explore different faces of activists' burnout. And a laboratory of how we can create a more inclusive, friendly work environment for ourselves and future generations.

During our workshop, we will conduct practical research on burnout and practices to combat it at personal, organizational, and systemic levels.

And the best part? We'll wrap it all up with a public presentation where we'll share our research process and ideas through a captivating performance. It's going to be an inspiring and informative event!

What should you know?

This is one and only opportunity to explore your potential with embodied theatre practice, community care and self-reflection. We’re inviting everyone open for adventure, learning and sharing.

The “For Community” workshop will occur between the 21st and 25th of August in Warsaw: ul. Długiej 44/50 - Revolution Dance Center

Participation in the event is free of charge.

Please mind that we do not provide food and accommodation for the duration of the event.

Applications for participation will be accepted until 26 June 2023 using this form.

Leading and the method:

,,Movement is known for its stress relief qualities, doubled by creative/expressive possibilities. To work towards an artistic take on burnout means to use performative/embodiment methods and practices, to allow thoughts, emotions, and experiences about burnout/exhaustion to appear and manifest in the body, and to reflect upon them on verbal and non-verbal levels. Performing together in front of an audience is a binding experience, primarily an emotional and mental labour. It brings participants and audience together in a shared time and space, engaged in a common context and purpose. And that purpose, even though immaterial and suggested, is the invisible link between all those present and allows difficult topics to be addressed with care and empathy."
